Even "Toy Story 2" made motion picture history in 1999 when it became the first film ever to be entirely created, mastered, and exhibited digitally. I don't think "Toy Story 3" will make cinematic history anytime soon but it's a fitting conclusion to the beloved series. From director Lee Unkrich to producer-writer John Lasseter, virtually the same creative team that worked on the first two "Toy Story" films returns for the third installment. This time, the filmmakers are playing with darker themes such as aging and abandonment. Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and the rest of the toy-box gang have been neglected by their owner Andy (John Morris) who's departing for college. He plans to bring Woody with him to college while the rest of the toys will be kept in the attic. But happenstance prevents the toys from being separated. Instead, they find themselves in daycare being played by rough toddlers who don't know how to take care of Woody and company. Unkrich, Lasseter, and Andrew Stanton co-wrote the script with Michael Arndt. I suspect Pixar brought in Arndt to add family pathos he showed in his Academy Award-winning script for "Little Miss Sunshine." Indeed, this new "Toy Story" is heavy on the inevitable sadness but the filmmakers balanced it with a lot of humor. Bringing in the funny is Ken (Michael Keaton) of the Ken and Barbie (Jodi Benson) tandem. He's a metrosexual who always dresses up for the occasion and even calls Barbie's dream house his own. Sunnyside Daycare is a mysterious place where some toys call it paradise while some refers to it as prison. Running the show is Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear aka Lotso (Ned Beatty), a strawberry-scented teddy bear with plans of his own. His henchman is Big Baby, a lifelike baby doll who towers over the rest of the toys. The voice of optimism belongs to Woody. He wants to leave the daycare because he knows Andy is waiting for them. What follows next is a prison escape routine taken from the pages of 1963's "The Great Escape." I've always been a fan of Pixar Animation. Their films are densely well-rounded with equal-parts humor and drama. In "Toy Story 3," there is a lot of crying and laughing, but like the toys' owner, we've outgrown these characters. In an attempt to find a new angle for Buzz, the filmmakers reduced the character into a Spanish lover caricature that young kids may find funny, but some adults may frown upon. The usage of 3D technology is unnecessary and did not help to move the plot forward. You don't have to watch "Toy Story 3" in 3D. If the "Toy Story" franchise was lauded for its beautiful imagery, then the third film must be praised for its storytelling. Pixar, much like the "Toy Story" series, is growing up and has been telling mature stories masquerading as cartoons. It took a while for me to get used to the characters again but once I did, I even shed a tear or two near the end. The beauty of the "Toy Story" films is using banality as a plot point. The action-packed conclusion is fittingly set in a dumpsite where old toys go to die. So go ahead and play with "Toy Story 3" even if it means for the very last time. SABRINAS POV "Mommy" my three year old said pulling at my robe. "What" I said trying to put on my mascara. My dress was laid out on my bed and so was my mask. I cant wait to go out and party its been awhile since I decided to let loose on my problems. "wheres daddy?" Mhariella asked. "Daddy went to go get his suit that hes wearing tonight." I said putting the eyeliner down and looking up at the mirror. Perfect. I thought to myself as I got out from the bathroom and into my bed room. My daughter trailed behind me holding on to robe. "But what about what about me?" she asked her voice getting all teary. "Youre going to stay here with Ally, Krystofer, Bella, Alex, and Joey" I said picking her up and carrying her to her room. "But why!" she said stubbornly. "Because mommy, Daddy, Auntie Liz, Auntie Megan, and Uncle Nick are going out tonight." I said in a hushing tone. "But-" she started before I put my finger on her lips. "No buts come on get your Im going to get your PJs while you jump into the shower". I said putting her on the floor and walking to her cabinets. I opened the cabinet and pulled out her favorite Barbie pajamas and walked to the bathroom silently so I wouldnt wake Alex up. I gave Mhariella a shower and brushed her hair before giving her a snack and sitting her down to watch cartoons so I could finish changing before Ally got here. I put on the dress Megs and I picked out and finished curling my hair when my phone rang. "hello?" I said into the phone and putting the iron down to cool off. "Hi Mrs. Jonas Im downstairs." Allys peppy voice said from the other line. "Come on up." I said hanging up and applying lip gloss. "In about ten minutes you didnt see my husband down there did you?" asked putting on an earring in the mirror. "His car was right behind mine so he should be here in a minute." She said walking and going to Mhariella who let out a small squeal and hugged her. I smiled and my husband walked in all sexily. "Whoa whatever you did to yourself I like it." he said looking me up and down. I was about to say something when my song jumped out from behind my husband wearing a black mask. "Look Im daddy." He said jumping up and down his curly hair bouncing with him. "Oh really?" Kevin said lifting him up and throwing him over one of his shoulders laughing. Krystofer giggled and kicked his little feet. Mhariella ran up to us and hugged her dad around his leg. He dragged his leg to the couch and threw himself on it with my laughing kids. I shook my head laughing and walked over to them. "Aright guys me and your dad need to go so listen to what Ally says, no rough play with Bella, and if Alex and Joey are sleeping dont wake them up got it?" I said. They smiled innocently and nodded. I narrowed my eyes and they nodded again. "Alright come give mommy kiss." I said bending down to their height. I gave them both a kiss on the top of their heads and righted myself. "So do I get to kiss mommy?" Kevin asked. "Come before we're late." I said grabbing his hand dragging him outside. "Is that a yes or a no?" he asked. I turned around and gave him a quick kiss before pressing the elevator button. "Well you look good." Liz said walking up to us with her babies in one of those double strollers. "thank you and Megan did an amazing job with you." I said laughing. She flicked me off and went into the elevator to go upstairs. Kevin and I laughed and walked to our car to wait for Liz. When we had settled in Kevins car started blarring out music. "Hello?" he said into the phone. There was a pause and then his eyes went wide. "WHAT!" he yelled. "What do you mean he-" " Are you sure?" he said. "Kevin whats wrong?" I asked looking at him. he held up one finger and kept hearing whatever the person on the other line was saying. "Great." he said hanging up. "what happened?"
