We soldiers call this castle the "Flintstone" palace because it looks like something from the Flintstones cartoon. It is a palace Saddam Hussein built for his grandchildren. We I was here in 2003 we called it the "Kiddie" palace. I have also heard it called "the Shire" because it looks like something out of the Lord of the Rings. The road behind it is called Flintstone street.

(composite video) For... five months in Shanghai, China, a five-storey high, rust-encased cavern will showcase Australia to a projected 70 million visitors expected at World Expo (@ 1.30+ pathetically boring, pretentiously parochial white Anglo middle-class PC settler society jingoistic drivel by Australia's commissioner-general to Expo, Lyndall Sachs, uhh .....oh, she's from Q-u-e-e-n-s-l-a-n-d, the Auzzie home of 'Bedrock'!)
Most sightseers will be Chinese and for the great majority, this $83 million monument to life down under is the closest they will come to visiting Australia. Australia's commissioner general to Expo, Lyndall Sachs, says: "There's a lack of knowledge here about Australia, they just think we blow stuff up out of the earth and export it."
Her pavilion is an attempt to round out the picture at one venue that, at capacity, can host 45,000 visitors a day. On a corporate level Australia's presence at Expo is brash and confident, but culturally the pavilion site is a triumph of slick marketing over heartfelt artistic endeavour. Disappointingly, it amounts to an opportunity lost for Australia's creative industries.....
Despite Sachs's claims that the pavilion is "a springboard and an opportunity to showcase young performers [at] the world's biggest Expo ever" there is little evidence that organisers are helping artists to prosper in an enduring way from their experience in China.....
Competition-winning sculptures from each state in the VIP foyer of the pavilion are not even sign-posted with the artists' names or biographical information. When it is so often the case that sculptors end up spending more on their work than their arranged fee, such as Victorian winner Reko Rennie did, the insult of then not being identified in a sphere dedicated exclusively to promotion is hard felt.....
Performers visiting the expo on fortnightly rotations receive the best deal..... Sydney street performers Chrome visited this month and Victoria's Snuff Puppets were the resident act last week. "It's bizarre, so full-on with the massive pavilions and money and expense," is how Snuff Puppets artistic director Andy Freer describes the Expo experience.....
Resident acts that were cast and created by DFAT, the Sand Bar band and aerialists Airborne, are the most disappointing: Airborne because the talented artists should be getting more out of their six-month stint and the band because frankly, its song list, which Sachs describes as "reminiscent of an Australian club scene or pub scene", doesn't actually include many Australian songs.....
The inside exhibition, created by designers think!OTS, takes visitors into an indigenous mimih pole room, after which a series of caricatures depict a random smattering of historical moments before a photo montage of successful Australians.
Stage two unspools in a circular 3D theatre wherein an animated film tells the story of Australia's three waves of immigration, indigenous, white and multi-racial. Finally visitors emerge into a retail space where there is a kiosk selling lamingtons, burgers, pies and beer where the band and aerialists occasionally perform.
It is confronting seeing your nation reduced for international consumption to a cartoon strip.
Think!OTS's principal Pete Ford is a three-time Expo veteran and firm advocate that every photo visitors take in the pavilion is a tiny sales tool for the nation. That might be so but the attempt to cram Australia's brief and often inglorious history into the exhibition smacks of a nation that is insecure.
The British pavilion, by contrast, is exceptional..... The Chinese Pavilion is a gigantic monument that, like Australia's, attempts to depict the country's sweep of history with video imaging, a film and sophisticated staging.....
Expos are held fairly frequently but big ones such as this tend to be staged every five years. The last one was in Aichi, Japan in 2005, before that was Hanover, Germany in 2000 and in 1988 Brisbane signalled a coming of age with an Expo, one of the legacies of which is the city's Southbank precinct.
China's staging of Expo is intended to signal to the world that it is open for business and countries wanting some of that business have little choice other than to be present.....
Expo's sprawling 528-hectare campus (three times the size of the Hanover expo) straddles Shanghai's Huangpu River and is for civilians an international theme park.....
An early episode from the HBO comedy series Flight of the Conchords featured hapless musicians Bret and Jermaine representing NZ at a trade fair. In that scene Australia was represented by a clutch of bikini girls around a barbie. The Australia Pavilion at Expo is a little bit more sophisticated than that comedic take, but not much..... http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/arts/culture-comes-down-to-a-cartoon/story-e6frg8n6-1225870253759

The best Halloween costume ideas ever are different to each person. That's because which Halloween costume you like best is a matter of personal taste. You may like the Gothic Vampire best, while I like the Fairy. There are some costume themes that are popular every year, and some styles come and go depending on the blockbuster movies or cartoon characters that happen to be popular right now. Let's take a look at some of the classic costume styles that are popular year after year.
Superhero and Villain Halloween Costume Ideas
Superheroes and their worst Villains are always a popular costume idea for Halloween parties and trick or treating. This year Batman is popular again, and so are some of his most famous villains...The Joker, The Scarecrow, Cat Woman and Poison Ivy. Logan, of the X-Men is also pretty hot this season...we know him as Wolverine. Transformers have been a popular kids costume theme for years, but thanks to the release of their new movie, Revenge of the Fallen, they are super hot this year. Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and Megatron are the three most popular Autobot costumes for boys.
For girls and women there is Supergirl and Wonder Women to turn each of us into crime fighters with special powers that make us Super! Spider Girl costumes are also pretty popular with the ladies year after year. The really super thing about these superhero costumes is that they work for both male and female costume ideas. It's just fun to have these extra special powers and crime fighting abilities, even if it is only for one day. And it's fun to be one of those very bad guys...just for a day too.
Celebrity Halloween Costume Ideas
If your not going to be a Superhero, you might want to dress up like a Celebrity. A celebrity like Hannah Montana are all fun dress up costumes to wear. Movie and TV stars are as close as you can get to Superheroes without actually being one. For boys there are beloved characters like Ben 10 or Dan Kuso of Bakugan are a close relative to superheroes.
For teens and adults there are some real oldies, but goodies costume ideas out there. Be nostalgic and get dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis from any of his hit movies...or from his music. There's Michael Jackson costumes with his outfits from Thriller, Bad...and the beautiful sparkling Billie Jean outfit. For the ladies, how about that beautiful and funny lady from I Love Lucy...Lucille Ball, that famous comedian from old time TV.
Then there are some adult funny costumes based on characters like the Flintstones...yep, Fred and Wilma, Barney and Betty and even Bam Bam and Pebbles are popular adult and teen costumes.
Gothic Halloween Costume Ideas
Sometimes, it's the make up possibilities that attract us to a particular character we can dress up as. The Gothic theme is always a popular one, but this year the gothic costumes for teenagers and adults are really moving out of the stores quickly. The Renaissance goth costumes, and the cooler punkier ones, like the Gothic Fairy, the Corpse Bride and Groom or the Gothic Mummy are fun, not only to wear, but to get made up for. Very light foundation and very dark, smokey eyes are part of the gothic make up charm. Add some black nail polish, a little gray blush and some dark blood red lipstick and you've achieved the gothic Halloween look.
Sexy Halloween Costume Ideas
Of course, if you happen to be an adult, sexy is always a hit. You can take one of those Marilyn outfits or get a Greek Goddess Venus or Aphrodite. There's a really cute lady Cop uniform and some naughty, but nice Angel and Fairy costumes. For the men, there are the classics, the Vampire and the Roman Guard and of course, the Cop if you like a man in uniform.
Fantasy and Fairy Tale Halloween Costume Ideas
The Disney Princesses, Tinkerbell, Fairy and Mermaid costumes are always big crowd pleaser for the girls and the boys, well, they have Prince Caspian, a Knight, Peter Pan and the Dragon Slayer to choose from.
The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland open up lots of costume ideas too.
Easy Costumes For Halloween
Easy costumes are always big hits with all age groups. Togas, Scrubs or a White Lab Coat are very popular because of the ease of making them. You don't have to buy or sew to turn yourself into a Toga wearing Greek, or a Doctor or Nurse costume. Just get a sheet or a large rectangular piece of material to make your own toga or borrow some scrubs and a stethoscope from someone in the medical field.
What ever Halloween costume ideas you decide on, whether its a toga or Marilyn, or The Gothic Fairy for the ladies, and a Transformer or Indiana Jones costume for the guys, enjoy the chance to dress up and go out and have some fun.

Watching The Adventures of Flash Gordon, I noticed how they sometimes used that stock bongo sound for groups of people running, the same thing you hear when Fred Flintstone starts running to get his car moving, or when Scooby-Doo and the gang are getting chased. I also noticed some scenes where our heroes escape from guards by hiding behind a doorway or curtain, wiggling a finger at the guard, and bonking him on the head when he comes close to investigate. That had Scooby-Doo written all over it, so I had to create one of these chase song scenes. The main song is "Tell Me, Tell Me" from the Scooby-Doo episode "Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Werewolf". Words and music by Danny Janssen and Sue Steward. There are also excerpts of "West End Blues" by Zach Whyte's Chocolate Beau Brummels (public domain) in the harem scene, and "Trouble Trouble" by Betty Roche (public domain) in the closing scene. I also used part of a clip titled "bell_crowd_laughter" by cognito perceptu from freesound.org, used in accordance with a Creative Commons Sampling 1.0 license.
If this video turns out lousy, blame Windows 7 for not being retro-compatible with my old editing software.
On the up side, I discovered the current incarnation of the franchise "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc." playing on Cartoon Network. Based on the first two episodes, I approve.

First I'd like to say a few things, I know how much hate and flaming these kind of videos can gather. I ask you to just relax, no need to be wishing me horrible death because I didn't manage to replicate your favourite character's voice perfectly. I love impressions, and just want to share. =)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is something I've been wanting to do for ages now since impressions have always been a big interest to me. I hope you all enjoy what I decided to put in this video and have a good time. =)
Also, I tried to keep it under 5 minutes (which I barely made). ^^
I didn't want to put any effects on the voices even if it would make them more accurate sounding (Transformers lack of metallic noise, echo, etc). I wanted this to be pure voice which also leaves me to second little gripe, the lack of any sort of background music so please bear with me if there's a bit of static... =c
Lastly, I wanted to avoid doing Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mainly for them being parodied so much.
